Group meeting at Hotel upon arrival in Creel, debrief, final instructions and gear check.

Day 1,

  • Meet at Hotel 8:00 AM.
  • Transfer to trail head, 1 hr. (35 K +10 K dirt road)

Our trek starts on slight down hill path with mixed terrain crossing some really quaint Raramuri settlements and farm fields, we carry on descending along a creek gorge that eventually confluences with the rio Urique at the bottom of the barranca del Cobre, as we continue along the narrow mesa trail spectacular views of the terarecua and copper canyon come to view where we plan to take lunch and a deserved rest under a tree shade. and Then we carefully descend about 300 mts on a dry loose and rocky path to finish our day on a fabulous campsite with amazing canyon views.

Day 2,

After camp breakfast we continue on a Half rim trail, surrounded by canyon views and natural overlooks almost by 360 degrees where we can admire the copper canyon bending 90 degrees heading south to Sinaloa state and the coast, the views of Tararecua canyon and rio Urique are breathtaking. We have lunch at an amazing Tarahumara cave homestead then we head to the Majimachi side Canyon to descend to our next camp, this beautiful citrus orchard nestled in a beautiful microclimate canyon along a beautiful refreshing stream. After we set up camp we head up river on a short hike to a waterfall and swim hole.

Day 3,

On our last day we continue trekking to our final destination, with about +1,000 Mts elevation gain we tackle an early start on our climb, most of the morning and afternoon we use all our energy to slowly gain elevation with more and wider views of the Copper Canyon. Along the way we encounter some cave paintings, abandoned Tarahumara farm and some cave dwellings, after mid day we reach Mesa Mogotabo at 2,300 mts. for some food and rest, then we carry on along the flat mesa rim to reach Divisadero for a well deserved cold drink at the bar if you desire. Note, We spend most of our day up hill along narrow paths and trails.
